The Vive Les Arts Theatre was established by the hard work and creativity of eight performing couples who formed the Vive Les Arts Society in 1976. Wanting to promote and enrich the local community with the beauty of art and culture, the Vive Les Arts Society took over the Texas Theatre in Killeen, turning it into the not-for-profit community Vive Les Arts Theatre in the 1980s. Currently, the venue opens Tuesday to Friday 0900 to 1700.

Performing Arts

The Vive Les Arts Theatre in Killeen is a powerhouse of talented actors and performers who put on spectacular events.

In recent times they put on theatre productions of The Importance of Being Earnest based on the original by Oscar Wilde in which the central character creates different characters for himself to escape societal expectations. Another recent event was the successful production of Once On This Island, a story of a girl who rescues a boy from the far side of the island and who faces both classism and racism as she becomes more involved with him.

Killeen Civic Art Guild

A lot of the actors you see in Vive Les Arts Theatre are volunteer participants of the Killeen Civic Arts Guild. Like the founders of the Vive Les Arts Society and Vive Les Arts Theatre, the Killeen Civic Arts Guild has great respect and passion for all things art and are made up of people from all around Killeen.
